With their savory taste, crispy texture, and easy-to-eat nature, this snack is guaranteed to make family gatherings and chats even more fun.

But have you ever tried making them yourself at home, only to end up with peanuts that aren’t crispy or go stale too quickly? Well, in this article, let’s go over how to fry garlic peanuts so they stay crispy and last longer. Plus, Minchef is going to spill some secrets on how to make your Eid menu both tastier and healthier.

How to Fry Garlic Peanuts

To ensure your homemade peanuts stay crispy and flavorful for a long time, there are a few key things to keep in mind beyond just the frying process. What are they? Here is how to fry garlic peanuts that are crispy and long-lasting :

Choosing High-Quality Peanuts

The key to successfully frying garlic peanuts starts with selecting the right peanuts. Here are some things to consider:

  1. Choose whole peanuts that are not wrinkled or moldy. High-quality peanuts will result in crispy and long-lasting fried garlic peanuts. Avoid peanuts that are broken or look dull.
  2. Try to select peanuts that are uniform in size so they cook evenly. This will prevent some peanuts from burning while others remain undercooked.
  3. Pay attention to the color of the peanuts—make sure they are bright and not dull. A bright color indicates that the peanuts are still fresh.

Frying Process for Garlic Peanuts

Once you have high-quality peanuts, the next step is frying them. Follow these steps:

  1. Soak the cleaned peanuts for about 2 hours. This soaking process helps the peanuts cook faster and become crispier.
  2. Drain the peanuts until they are completely dry. Use a strainer and a clean cloth to ensure no water remains. Any leftover water can cause the oil to splatter during frying.
  3. Heat cooking oil over medium heat. Make sure there is enough oil so that the peanuts are fully submerged. Ideally, use fresh oil to enhance the savory flavor of the garlic peanuts.
  4. Fry the peanuts until they turn golden brown, stirring continuously to ensure even cooking. Consistent stirring will prevent some peanuts from burning. This process usually takes around 15-20 minutes.
  5. Remove the peanuts and drain the excess oil. Use a strainer to help remove any remaining oil.
  6. Sprinkle fried garlic over the peanuts while they are still hot. The heat will help the garlic seasoning stick perfectly. You can use 2-3 cloves of garlic, thinly sliced and fried until golden brown.
  7. Once cooled, store the fried garlic peanuts in an airtight container. This will help maintain their crispiness for a longer time.

Tips for Frying Garlic Peanuts to Keep Them Crispy and Long-Lasting

Here are some additional tips to get the best results:

  1. Use medium-low heat to ensure the peanuts cook through without burning. High heat can cause the outer layer to burn while the inside remains raw.
  2. Keep stirring the peanuts constantly during frying. This is the key to even cooking and crispiness.
  3. Make sure the oil is fully heated before adding the peanuts. If the oil isn’t hot enough, the peanuts will absorb too much oil and become greasy.
  4. Don’t fry too many peanuts at once. If the pan is overcrowded, the peanuts won’t be fully submerged in the oil, leading to uneven cooking.
  5. Store the fried peanuts in an airtight container after they’ve cooled to maintain their crispiness.

After following these steps, you can now make crispy, flavorful, and long-lasting garlic peanuts to enjoy during Eid! The most important thing is to use quality ingredients and the right frying techniques.
