2. Separate the Stalks

3. Rinse Under Running Water 

Place the mushrooms in a strainer and rinse them under running water. Use your fingers to gently rub the stems to remove any remaining dirt. Avoid soaking the mushrooms for too long, as they can absorb water and lose their crisp texture. 

4. Rinse with Warm Water (Optional) 

For extra cleanliness, rinse the mushrooms with warm water. This can help kill any lingering bacteria, but make sure not to use water that’s too hot to avoid wilting the mushrooms. 

5. Drain and Dry 

After rinsing, let the mushrooms drain in the strainer until all excess water is gone. If you plan to cook them immediately, use a kitchen towel to pat them dry so your dish doesn’t turn out watery.
